What is Sofrito?
Sofrito is a thick “sauce” that is used in lots of latin cooking cuisine as a base. You can add it to rice (through cooking), beef, pork, chicken, etc (as a marinade).
If you think you can simply grab a tortilla chip to this and take a bite, wow are you in for a surprise lol! Consider this a….. bouillon, but in sauce form so it’s super duper concentrated (did you not see all that garlic dude?) Mom's Homemade Sofrito
Sofrito is a thick “sauce” that is used in lots of latin cooking cuisine as a base
Ingredients
- 4 cups cilantro
- 4 cups garlic
- 2 cups culantro
- 1 yellow onion, large
- 1 green pepper, large
- 1/2 cup aji dulce
- 1/2 cup oil, avocado, olive, etc
Instructions
- Pop all this into a blender and you're good to go!
- Freeze for 2-3 months, or leave in fridge for up to a month.
